Asset Types are defined as logical groups of Assets that the Organization wishes to manage together. Asset Types are defined by a combination of Asset Attributes, Actions, and/or Rulesets. Applications are associated to Asset Types which means that Assets that match the Asset Type criteria can be consumed by the Applications associated to them.

- In the Define Assets Source area:
-
Select where the Assets are located:
- Request: Assets are virtual and the Authorization Request sends them.
- External: Assets that come from an external source.
- Platform: internal Assets defined in the Platform.
Note: You can modify the Request option after you create an Asset Type. External and Platform are permanent and you cannot change them later.
-
Set whether Asset Attributes sent as part of the Authorization Request can override PlainID and external templates. Choose Yes or No. The default is No.
-
- In the Define Asset Type Data Settings area, select whether this Asset Type should be used for data filtering. This lets you use the Asset Type to define Policies and for Dynamic Data Mapping.
- Click Create. The Policies Workspace adds the new Asset Type to the existing list of Asset Types.
If you have a specific use-case that would require the use of different Assets across the PAA and PDP, PlainID encourages you to reach out to our Global Services team to assist in tailoring a solution.
