    Article summary

Asset Types are defined as logical groups of Assets that the Organization wishes to manage together. Asset Types are defined by a combination of Asset Attributes, Actions, and/or Rulesets. Applications are associated to Asset Types which means that Assets that match the Asset Type criteria can be consumed by the Applications associated to them.

The Asset Type Settings screen features the following tabs:

    Details Tab

When you select Details, the Asset Type Details screen is displayed. On this screen, the following information is available:

    • Asset Name
    • Description
    • Assets Source
      • Displays where the Assets are located (options are Request, External, or PlainID)
      • Displays the PAA
      • Source View
      • Whether the Asset Attributes can be sent as part of the authorization request.
    • Asset Type Data Settings
      • Defines whether the Asset Type can be used for data filtering.

    Asset Attributes Tab

The Asset Attributes tab displays a list of currently defined Assets Lists. You can view the details of an Attribute List by selecting it from the list. You can also edit an Attribute or delete the Asset Type. For more information, see Managing Asset Attributes.

    Actions Tab

On the Actions tab, you can create, edit, and delete Actions that are used to define what a user can do with an Asset. Actions relate to the actions that an Identity can perform on or with an Asset. Actions could include any/all of the following:

    • Access an online web-based application
    • View, update, or delete information in a database
    • Upload files
    • Approve a loan application or request
    • Any Action can be defined in the Authorization Platform and then built into a Policy.
On the Actions tab, you can create, edit, and delete Actions that are used to define what a user can do with an Asset. For more information, see Managing Actions.

    Rulesets Tab

Rulesets are sets of rules that are created to help define the Policy. They combine the key building blocks and give values according to the Policy. A Ruleset is used to define which Dynamic Groups the Policy should be applied to; what conditions should be applied, etc.

For more information on creating Rulesets, see Managing Rulesets.

    Assets Tab

Assets are the objects of the Policy, the WHAT value. When defining an Authorization, there is some object that users want to have access to. It could be an online form, a database, files or tables in a database, accounts, etc. For more information on creating and managing Assets, see Managing Assets.
