    Creating Assets

There are two ways to enter Assets into the Organization Management:

    • You can import a CSV file of existing Assets.
    • You can create Assets manually.

Assets are imported or created within the context of a specific Asset Type.

    Creating Assets Manually

You can create a single Asset at a time manually, or you can create multiple Assets by downloading a sample CSV file, entering your Asset definitions into the file, and then importing the file to Organization Management.

    To create an Asset manually:

    1. In the Authorization Workspace, select the Asset Type for which you wish to import Assets. The Asset Type Settings screen is displayed.
    2. Select Assets. The list of currently defined Assets is displayed.
    3. Click New Asset. The New Asset screen is displayed.
    4. Enter the relevant information for the following fields.
      • Name: Name of the Asset.
      • Description: Provides descriptive and functional information about the Assets.
      • Path: The path to where the Asset is located.
      • Type and Classification of the Asset.
    5. After you complete the form, click Save.

    Importing Assets

Each Asset is associated to an Asset Type. This enables Admins to manage groups of Assets according to Type and configure Policies for multiple Assets rather than individually. Therefore, when you import Assets, you need to import them from within the specific Asset Type to which they belong.

To import a list of Assets:

    1. In the Authorization Workspace, select the Asset Type for which you wish to import Assets. The Asset Type Settings screen is displayed.
    2. Select Assets. The list of currently defined Assets is displayed.
    3. Click Import Assets. The Import Assets screen is displayed.
    4. If you already have a CSV file correctly formatted with the Assets you wish to import, drag and drop the CSV file into the Import box.
    5. If you do not have the CSV file prepared, click Download File Sample. The import-assets-example.csv file downloads to your default download location.
    6. Locate and open the file. Note that each row of the CSV table represents a single Asset. You can only import 20 Assets at a time. Enter the relevant information for each column as follows:
      • Name: Name of the Asset.
      • Description: Provide descriptive and functional information about the Assets.
      • Path: The Path to where the Asset is located.
      • Catalogasset: Name of the Catalog to which the Asset belongs
    7. Once you finish entering the Asset data, upload the file to the Organization Management. A successful upload opens the Assets List Preview where you have an option to edit the Asset details.
    8. To edit or delete a single Asset, hover over the line and select Edit to edit the Asset or Delete to delete it from the list of Assets.
    9. If there are any invalid Assets and you wish to remove them, click Remove Invalid Assets.
    10. After reviewing the Asset details, click Upload.
