    Article summary

Actions are related to Assets in that a user is granted or denied access to perform a specific Action on an Asset. The same user may be allowed to upload files to an internal data portal but be denied the right to upload files to an external data portal. In this example, the Action is upload and in one case, the user can perform the specified Action while in another instance, the user is denied permission to perform this action.

Because Actions are defined in relation to an Asset, they are managed on the Actions tab of the Asset Type Settings screen.

On the Actions tab, you can create, edit, and delete Actions that are used to define what a user can do with an Asset. Actions relate to the actions that an Identity can perform on or with an Asset. Actions could include any/all of the following:

    • Access an online web-based application
    • View, update, or delete information in a database
    • Upload files
    • Approve a loan application or request
    • Any Action can be defined in the Authorization Platform and then built into a Policy.

The Value field can also be used to define the masking instruction for masking policies in the SaaS Authorization Management.
