    Article summary

Applications in the PlatformPlatform represent an organization's business application, which enables users to interact with the organization's assets. Within the PlatformPlatform, you can create an Application for each business application for which you wish to provide access.

Applications are created and listed in the Authorization Workspace. Typically, the Applications interact with the Assets. Authorization Policies are created in the Platform that define who is allowed or denied access to this Application and what interaction is allowed, under what conditions. For example, an Application might enable users to access, use, operate or view Assets such as an organization's repositories, files, servers, etc.

For example, if the Application is a commercial website from which customers can place orders, the Assets for the Application could be catalogs of product information, lists of existing clients, etc.

The authorization Policies created for this Application would determine the WHO (which Identities/Dynamic Groups) and the WHAT (what the Identities can do - access the Assets, update the assets, etc.). Applications are associated to Asset Types, which are essentially templates that define the logical grouping of Assets that the Organization wishes to manage together.

To learn more about an Application, you can click on it to access the Applications Details screen, which contains three tabs:

    • Details
    • Asset Types (for the selected Application)
    • API Mappers

For more information, see Application Settings.
