# Prerequisites for Building Policies

<p>Before you can successfully build an end-to-end Authorization Policy, it is recommended that you have the following building blocks of a Policy already defined and configured:

* [Identities](/v1/docs/identity-workspace-settings)
* [Conditions](/v1/docs/managing-conditions)
* [Applications](/v1/docs/about-applications)
* [Assets](/v1/docs/about-assets)

Note that when creating building blocks, you need to assign a unique name for each building block within a given Environment. Once you have built the Policy, you can view it in the Policy Map and drill down on some building blocks for more details.</p>
